Victrex Earns NSF 61 Certification for VICTREX FG™ series

Certification of NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 demonstrates compliance to the recognized health effects standard for drinking water system components

VICTREX FG™ series has achieved successful certification to NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 for use in drinking water system components from global public health organization NSF, in addition to the existing NSF 51 for use in food equipment materials. VICTREX FG series is a range of high-performance polymers for use in food, beverage and drinking water processing equipment.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects is an American and Canadian National Standard. The standard establishes minimum health effects requirements for the chemical contaminants and impurities that are indirectly imparted to drinking water from products, components, and materials used in drinking water systems.

To earn NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certification, VICTREX FG series underwent rigorous testing and technical review by NSF to verify it meets the requirements of this standard, and therefore is suitable for use in a water distribution system. Additionally, NSF audited Victrex’s manufacturing facility to verify compliance to the standard’s requirements.

NSF’s certification program is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). Furthermore, companies around the world strive to earn certification to this standard, as it is a globally recognized sign of product quality.

About NSF

NSF is an independent, global organization that facilitates standards development, and tests and certifies products for the food, water, health sciences and consumer goods industries to minimize adverse health effects and protect the environment. Founded in 1944, NSF is committed to protecting human health and safety worldwide. With operations in 180 countries, NSF is a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre on Water Quality, Food Safety, and Medical Device Safety.
NSF Water provides risk assessments, testing, inspection and certification services for the water industry from source to tap. NSF facilitated the development of the American National Standards for all materials and products that treat or come in contact with drinking water to help protect public health and the environment and minimize adverse health effects. In 1990, the U.S. EPA replaced its own drinking water product advisory program with these NSF standards.
